You can recognize a natural swimmer who trains in a pool from their bag because their bag resembles their locker - full of swimming gear. Not only do they have their special shampoos and creams for after their swims, but they carry their fins, goggles, caps, kickboards, pull buoys, paddles, towels, extra clothes, underclothes, swimsuits, ear and nose plugs, curling irons, blow dryers ….

The primary purposes of the equipment and tools used in a pool and with swim teams are used to improve your speed, swimming technique, and strength with each having a specific use and purpose. The amount of swimming gear you need is a personal preference.

Swimming is an incredibly popular activity and thousands of people participate every year. To emulate a natural swimmer such as fish or whether you like swimming for fun or as a competitive sport, there will be items of swimming gear that you will need. The items will make your experience more pleasurable, comfortable and ensure that you can swim as naturally as possible and compete competitively. The equipment that is chosen will vary an immense amount depending on the style of swimming being performed.

Natural Pleasure Swimming

Swimming for pleasure is a great deal of fun, however, there are still a number of different items that you will need to take to the pool. You will need to consider what you have to wear in the pool and how to remain safe and hygienic. Aftercare is also extremely beneficial, as the chemicals that are used in the water can damage your hair and skin.

Swim Wear

Your swimwear can be varied and is often chosen, depending on what you are comfortable wearing. There are no rules when it comes to the design and style of the swimwear as long you are wearing something – although there are nude beaches. Some people prefer to wear a swim cap whilst swimming to keep the hair from your eyes and cutting down on resistance.

Goggles

Goggles are anther very popular piece of pool swimwear and they can be found in a huge array of different styles. You can wear your swim goggles in any water, including the sea, pool and lake. The goggles that are chosen will help to protect your eyes as well as enable you to see under the water.

Ear Plugs and Nose Guards

Ear plugs are nose guards are also worn to prevent water from entering your body. Ear plugs are excellent at preventing swimmers ear.

Swimming Fins

You may also want to wear fins whilst in the water, which will enable you to move faster. However, these are typically not allowed in public pools, unless you are training. The fins can assist with your speed and technique, making them extremely popular with athletes. Once you move away from the pool, there are several other pieces of equipment that are needed.

Open Water Swimming Equipment

Open water swim training gear adds a different list of gear to the swim bag: air horns, whistles, binoculars, earplugs, GPS unit, kayak or paddle boat, lanolin or zinc, petroleum jelly, rubber gloves, small towels, online surf forecasts, vinegar and water thermometers. When you get into racing in open water and marathon swims you will add to these lists.

Open water swimming can be exceedingly dangerous, and you need to ensure that you have the correct items. This may include a wetsuit and cap to keep your body temperature to the perfect level. Often swimmers who are deciding to swim in open water over a long distance will have a support boat. Within this boat, there are several different pieces of equipment to guarantee that the swimmer is kept safe. Many of the items that are chosen are designed to ensure that the swimmer is safe whilst in the water.

Post Swim

Once out of the water, you will want to get dry and clean as soon as possible using superior quality shampoos and soaps. If you have been in cold water, you will want to ensure that you warm up as quickly as possible. If you prepare well, and remain organized you will be able to ensure that your swimming experience is pleasurable.

The natural swimmers amount of gear they use depends on their personal need from simplicity to sophisticated needs for training. It is a personal choice how much equipment is desired for training, simple exercise and enjoyment.

Whether you choose to pack light, or take loads of items for the swim as long as you are happy that is all that matters. Whatever you choose, it will enable you to become a more natural swimmer and learn the energies that will help you become more efficient and graceful. Some people feel that they need more equipment around them when participating in any activity. However, other people are happy to remain just with their towel and goggles.
